Windows 10: possible duplicate account - unable to locate my MS account that MS says I have

I have an MS account under my icloud account that I can sign into. However, when I attempt to change passwords on google chrome GC, GC wants me to input the windows password, it asks for an account with a user name of cjhays. I must have set that up years ago, however, have no idea of the password and trying to reset doesn't work as MS doesn't recognize the only email I would have used. So I cannot view what I need in GC.


Question - how to modify the GC request from cjhays to my icloud I try to enter it in manually - no luck and/or change the computer MS login so it uses the correct icloud ? Also, I am not sure whether this is the same cjhays that I set on my computer to lock my screen - however, I only use a pin to access that, not an email. If that is the case, I can't delete the entire account, but I need to somehow figure out what is what. Any help is appreciated.

MS account lockout. Unable to reset.

I am locked out of my MS account. All directions point to conventional reset help / support page requiring text verification code to reset. Problem is, I am in a rural locale (no cell service .. no texting) so unable to use that method. No other reset method appears to be available.

It is impossible to get help from MS so am VERY grateful to have found this support forum. Hope someone can help. (In any case) thanks (in advance) for suggestions.

MS Account questions

To determine if you actually created a "MS Account" or Local Account, suggest you go to Settings > Accounts.
You can then see if it says Local or Microsoft is signed in. As for logging out or in, right click on Start button bottom left corner and log off....same as always ?

Thank you so much for the reply, but it did not work for me.

First, I am using Win 10 Home edition so the Security Policy Editor is not directly accessible. I was able to find a way to enable gpedit which then allowed me to get access to the Security Policy Editor. I did have to navigate a few deeper steps to find
the policy setting for Accounts:Block Microsoft Accounts but i was able to make the noted change.

After reboot I still could not add my MS account.

So I tried Fix2 and search regedit for any instance of my MS account name. One was located and deleted - although it was not in the location noted in the description.

Reboot and still unable to add my MS account.
