Windows 10: possible hack

I was googling support for my printer as it stopped printing. I thought I was on a Brother website, which I now believe I not. I allowed the chat technician to call me. During the conversation, he asked to use team viewer to look at my problem remotely since we could not figure it out over the phone. I told me I had a problem, showed it to me remotely, it looked legit. So, he asked if he tech department could fix it. I researched team viewer and believed it to be safe. I gave the tech department remote access through team viewer. They used logmeinrescue. I researched that and it appeared to be legit as well. They gave me a number to call during the process. I called it. They didn't answer. I immediately disconnected the remote access. I spoke to Best Buy and they said that it was most likely a scam and their experience is that they are usually just trying to get paid, which I did NOT do. I immediately changed all of my passwords. I also ran my Norton scan several times. I checked my programs to make sure nothing new was installed. The number they gave me was 1-866-261-5287. The company claimed to be brother and a sister company called American Software Tech LLC. I now believe it was not really a brother website and that the American Software is a cover. I am sick to my stomach and need to know if there are any further steps to take to make sure that they do not have access to my computer. Suggestions for next steps would be greatly appreciated.

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Possible hack

I received a message when I signed on to my computer that I was possible hacked and personal information retrieved. Was given the following number to call 800-364-7125. Is this a scam?
