    Possible obscure and rare solution to Win10 updates crashing


    After more than 50 attempts to update Windows from 1909, suddenly today the update took. Looking at what might have been the problem, the only thing that jumps out at me is that my Epson 3170 scanner driver disappeared. Although it is several years old, 3.0.4 is the current driver and I never suspected any problem. Scanner worked fine and did not show any problems all this time.


    Perhaps this was not the issue....I also noticed that about half my programs, looked at in Control Panel, had installation dates of today, so probably the install did some re-initializing in the Registry.


    But hoping this information might be of some use to someone having a similar problem. The error codes given on the crashes, of course, provided no useful clue.

    Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
