Windows 10: Possible to search for duplicate titles that have different extensions

And you think this is erroneous?

What software are you using to read these epub's and/or pdf's? If you use a different program for each extension, then the thumbnails will be different. As an example, MuPdf opens my epub while PDF-XChange opens the pdf's.

Although 600 files seem like a lot, in less than five minutes one can slide the paired or unpaired pdf's into a temporary folder as one go down the alphabetically-sorted list. Pause when one encounters a pair of different thumbnails that have the same filenames. When done and and the pairs are confirmed, re-sort by extension to eliminate one or the other.

 

Not at all, simply answering why the suggested solution does not work for me.

I read my ebooks on a Kobo Glo. Both my PDF and EPUB files show the book cover...therefore identical.

 

Is that from within Kobo or from Windows File Explorer? If you work within the latter, and you associate one of the extensions to a different program, you will or should get different thumbnails, in Details-mode.

 

Thank You! I never change my view, always on Large Icons, so had no idea that the icon showed different in small icon, list and detail views. I had so much trouble getting the cover thumbnails to show on epub I really didn't want to change that back to icons. Of course, I was also focused on the search aspect. Again, thank you. Not what I was asking for but a good solution.
