  1. Post April Rollup 1803 installation - Admin status on account corrupted

    Hello,

I've got a Laptop that has 2 accounts setup on it, one using the Display Language English, the other using Japanese. Recently I found that updates had been failing due to a registry setting that made the installer think I was trying to install Windows 10 onto a USB Drive... after fixing that, I then found that the 1803 release corrupted the Admin status of my English account - furthermore, the display language had been switched to Japanese.

The only way I could fix this, was to go to the other account, which had Admin status, and toggle the English Account from it's purported Admin state ro a normal user, then back again to Admin.

Has something similar to this issue been noticed before ?

    Thanks in advance,

    :)

  2. Admin account corrupted

    Hi Joshua,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Try running the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)
tool which fixes the Windows corruption error if there are any. Follow the steps:

    • Press Windows+X.
    • Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type the following command and hit
      Enter.
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    4. Now, try to create the new user account.

If the issue persist, then I would suggest to perform a system restore.
Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.

Refer the following Windows help article and to perform system restore.

Restore from a system restore point

Hope this will help you. Keep us posted with the status of the issue to assist you further.

    Thank you.
