  1. Potential Bug: Accessing GPO blocked command prompt through PowerShell

GPO is used to block CMD being run and trying results in "Disabled by administrator" or similar.

A user can still access PowerShell though, as it's usually needed for logon scripts, and then type "cmd" and it will again say "Disabled by administrator".

If however, the user types "cmd /r dir" the DIR command will run (or any other CMD command) even though CMD itself is blocked which allows access to things hidden in windows, for example hidden local hard drives etc.

Is this right? Seems to be a bit of a loophole in the GPO blocking mechanism.

    :)

command prompt will not open in safe mode with command prompt

Would I just follow the same steps within safe mode after hooking up to the other system?

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:

Potential Bug: Accessing GPO blocked command prompt through PowerShell

command prompt will not open in safe mode with command prompt

I am repairing a laptop for a friend and I need to access windows in safe mode and the owner has forgotten the password to the main user. I tried logging on with the administrator profile in safe mode but it is not showing up so I was going to use command prompt in safe mode with command prompt but command prompt will not open when I boot that option. Does anyone have any hints for me to figure this out?
