  1. power and sleep

I have two ASUS computers, one a ROG Strix core i7 that came with Windows 10 preinstalled earlier this year. The other is an out-of-warranty core i5 desktop that was upgraded from Windows 8 when Windows 10 was made available. I have another ASUS core i5 desktop that while it is two generations newer than the other is also running Windows 10, flawlessly and without any problems. It also came with Windows 8 preinstalled and was upgraded to Windows 10 for free when that was available.

On the older core i5 and on the brand new six months old laptop, the power and sleep function changes when certain apps are loaded. Whenever Google Chrome is loaded on either, the power and sleep changes on the laptop from "never" while plugged in to "15 minutes". This also happens on the desktop. ASUS says that in regards to the older desktop, that since it is out of warranty and upgraded, it is not their problem. Fair enough. However ASUS says that with regard to the laptop, it is a Microsoft Windows issue and that they have never heard of anything like that. The laptop also changes it's power and sleep settings when I launch "Master of Orion" from either Steam or GOG front ends. The desktop belongs to my 93 year old mom and it doesn't have either Steam or GOG Galaxy installed. She also thinks that she may need to get a new desktop since it is starting to show it's age. If she does, it will be her twentieth computer, not including a slew of iPads and other laptops over the years. Everyone knows that all 93 year olds need the fastest possible computer with the biggest graphics card. BTW: The two ASUS desktops and the laptop are equipped with Zotac nVidia graphics cards with 4 GB RAM installed on them. Sorry for the long intro, but having checked everything else out including the video cards, I have no idea what is going on.

    :)

  2. sleep mode and power options not working on Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Forums.

For issues with sleep mode and power options follow the steps provided below.

Run the Power troubleshooter and check.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Open Control Panel.
    • Type Troubleshooting in search and click
      Troubleshooting.
    • Now type Power in the search option.
    • Click on Power troubleshooter to run.

I would suggest you to try updating the Display driver and check if the issue persists. If you already have all the latest drivers from Windows updates, then I would suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer's website, download and install the latest
drivers in compatibility mode and check.

    Hope this helps.
