    Power problem

My computer was working great until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Now for some reason when its inactive for about 5 minutes the screen will go dark and moving the mouse to reactivate the screen, it takes a minute or two for the display to come back. Also when the computer is inactive for few minutes, instead of it going into sleep mode it turns off. When you press the button it comes back on, not as a re-boot but where it was when it turned off. Is this normal for windows 10? Tired of waiting for display to return and tired of restarting Windows.

Never operated in this manner using Windows 7

    power problem

    Hi Ahmed,

The power issue that you're experiencing could be due to either hardware or software conflict. For us to further troubleshoot the problem, we suggest that you follow the methods below:

Method 1: Run the Power troubleshooter.

    1. Right-click Start.

    2. Go to Control Panel.

    3. On the View by options, select Large icons.

    4. Click Troubleshooting.

    5. On the left panel, select View all.

    6. Click Power.

    7. Click Next to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: If you've installed any third-party applications, we recommend that you perform a
clean boot. This procedure helps to identify if a software conflict is causing the problem by starting Windows
using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.

Note: Once you've finished troubleshooting, kindly check the
How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
section of the clean boot article.

Method 3: Visit your computer manufacturer's support website and check if there's an available update for your BIOS/UEFI/EFI Firmware.

Keep us posted and we'll be willing to assist you further.

    Power problem

Assuming checked all settings in Power options, as for screen it is then set to go off in 5 minutes it seems. Rest sounds like it's using hibernate, although used mostly for laptops and sometimes option not there for desktops.
