    PowerShell(Admin) -right click start menu edit

    Right click on either PowerShell shortcut in the Win10 20H2 start menu and both are user not the System32 for the (Admin). I couldn't find where these start menu right click shortcuts are stored so I have used the tutorial registry script merge to have the admin cmd on the file explorer right click (Open Command here as administrator) as an alternative or as a workaround.

    This change to the right click start menu did not affect the laptop update from 2004 to 20H2 which took place via Windows Update in one session this last update session. The desktop has been updating through the various versions (2004, 20H2 version 19042.630 currently)
    Is it possible to edit this cmd shortcut to get it back to starting from System32?

    :)

    How to change the WinX menu, including Powershell/Powershell (Admin)

    This part intrigues me. As suggested earler, please post a screenshot of the error message. Also, please clarify/test the follwoing:
    1. Can you start PowerShell from the Start Menu?
    2. If you navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\WinX\Group3, does PowerShell launch from the shortcuts there?
    3. If #1 works & #2 doesn't, compare (& post) the target text from each shortcuts properties. For the Start Menu shortcut, right-click & select Open file location to navigate to the Start Menu folder.

  3. Start menu not working

    I found the following article, ran the suggested powershell command and my start menu is working again. Here it is as I found it:
    Go to Start menu button and right click on it. This will open the contextual menu, after which you need to select Command Prompt (Admin). Once Command Prompt is open, go ahead with the following steps.

    • Type and enter: Powershell
    • Type the following: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

    Running Powershell as admin

    To get around having to right click to run powershell as an admin...have you tried getting to powershell via the Task Manager? Open Task Manager via Ctl-Alt-Delete, then click on More details (if needed). From the File Menu, select Run new task. You can then click on the box that says "create this task with admin privileges", type powershell in the dialog box and enter. That eliminates the need to right click to run as an admin.
