  1. "Preparing automatic repair.." & win 10 installation usb - both black screen

Shut down PC one night normally and started the next day and now have this problem.

Booting normally from the SSD I get the Windows logo and animated dots followed by the "Preparing automatic repair" message. After sometime the screen goes black and Ive left it like that for hours with no change.

So I created a Win 10 USB installation media to try and access the repair functions.

If I boot from the USB it starts to boot up fine (light flashing on usb) but then the screen goes black after some time and nothing else happens

If I unplug the SSD and boot from USB I get the install menu as expected.

I tried connecting the SSD to another PC using a USB adapter but its not properly recognized. I get a drive letter but trying to access it hangs explorer.exe

So am I looking at a failed SSD here? Such a shame if it is as I just discovered there was some old photos on there. "Preparing automatic repair.." & win 10 installation usb - both black screen :(

What gives me second thoughts though is the fact it manages to get to the "Preparing repair" screen. If the SSD is not recognized then where is it loading that from?

Is it possible to use a linux usb to maybe access this disk and at least get some of the photos off there?

Please help... you'll make my daughter very happy if we can get some of the files off there at least.

    Thanks

Black screen after ‘preparing automatic repair.’

Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately, I don’t know if it’s my doing something wrong, but I’ll do the steps to boot up the ASO menu and it won’t appear. I’ll reboot three times and leave it to load at the third, but it will do the same as before except for one thing- load for a while, then seemingly reboot on its own quickly (which it didn’t do before the ASO reboots), before going directly into ‘preparing automatic repair’ followed by the black screen shortly after. Same as before, leaving the black screen alone won’t do anything.

windows 10 preparing automatic repair black screen (Stuck)

    Hello,

I Have Dell G3 laptop "Preparing Automatic Repair" - black screen. I don't see the Windows loading. I just have a black screen with logo DELL in the centre. Nothing is moving, nothing else appears, until the
"Preparing Automatic Repair" appears at the bottom.

I've tried doing the hard restarts many times, but the laptop will never boot into the Recovery Environment.

I tried hard restarts but it keeps repeating this cycle over and over again - "Preparing Automatic Repair" - black screen "STUCK" . I even left my laptop on the black screen for a couple of hours, hoping it might fix
    itself but it does nothing.

How can I get out of this problem that Windows has forced my laptop into?

    Thank you
