prevent fake microsoft security browser takeovers

I've read lots of posts on how to recover from the fake MS security nuisance. But I have not seen a solution on how to prevent this nuisance from occurring. Suggestions? Thanks.

I'm using Win 10 home, version 1903. Also, I use the Edge browser most of the time, but I know the screen freeze happens on other browsers as well.

    :)

  2. Takeover

That's a fake warning/alert, a so-called Tech Support scam which is widely spread.
It does not necessarily mean that your computer is infected.

Since you are using Edge, you should have a look at the posts/links etc in
    this
    thread...........

Suggestion to take the time and to carefully read Beware of Phony
    Emails &Tech Support Scams

which provides background information how to easily close such sites and what you can do to prevent this from happening again.

Also suggestion to get a good advertisment blocker. Personally I use uBlock origin which blocks all kinds of unwanted stuff.

    My prefered browser is Firefox.

    See
    this
    thread for more info.

    microsoft security warning

In addition to Le Boule's good advice:

To prevent such fake and unwanted pop ups/warnings/alerts , please do get a good blocker extension for your browser.

Personally I use and recommend uBlock Origin.

Suggestion to take the time to read everything here:
