Prevent Windows 10 Home from downloading and applying updates during active hours

    Hi,

I'm looking for a way to prevent MS Windows 10 Home from downloading and applying updates during the active hours.

On my computer, the active hourse are set from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., which stops Windows from automatic reboots.

However, Windows still downloaded and, as I undestand, installed all the updates during this period.

I am against automatic downloading and installation of any kind during the work hours.

For example, I was just working in ArcGIS, and the application suddenly crashed as soon as a message from Windows Update Centre popped up saying that updates needed a reboot to finilise installation. I am 100% sure that the crash was due to Windows Updates.

Suggestions to save the work often is not a solution to Windows 10 installation issues. There would be no work loss if Windows didn't download and partially installe the updates.

I still want Windows to download and install updates but outside of the active hours.

Looking forward to a working solution.

    Thanks!

    :)

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/defer-upgrades-in-windows-10

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 10 NOW - Upgrade and ISO direct from microsoft

Click to expand... Yeah I went to that site, why do I need to buy a key?
    I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
    is that causing the problem?

DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 10 NOW - Upgrade and ISO direct from microsoft

this search might help you https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sou...o+to+get+it+activated+windows+10+blocked+keys

    From http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/why-activate-windows-10

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

    • Go to Start
Prevent Windows 10 Home from downloading and applying updates during active hours [IMG]
, then select Settings > Update & security > Activation.
    • Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.

      Note
      • This only applies if you haven't made changes to the hardware for your device.

or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack
