    Preventing Office 2019 apps from launcing in Internet Explorer


    I just installed Office 2019 PRO.

    When I launch the Office 2019 icon that shows all the office apps and choose one (say Word), select new blank doc to open, it starts in Internet Explorer.

    If I go to the Win10 Start button and choose Word, it launches as a standalone app and not running within IE.

    I had this same issue on another computer and can't remember what I did to prevent launching in IE.

    Anyone know how to turn off the Office 2019 app launches from starting in IE?

    Only supported on Win10. Sorry, 8.1 users, only 4 years old, gotta go.

    Last year at Ignite, we announced Office 2019 – the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Today we’re pleased to share the following updates:

    • Office 2019 will ship in H2 of 2018. Previews of the new apps and servers will start shipping in the second quarter of 2018.
    • Office 2019 apps will be supported on:
      • Any supported Windows 10 SAC release
      • Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018
      • The next LTSC release of Windows Server
    • The Office 2019 client apps will be released with Click-to-Run installation technology only. We will not provide MSI as a deployment methodology for Office 2019 clients. We will continue to provide MSI for Office Server products.

    Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).
