Windows 10: Print Settings Are Following The Document

Is there a setting in windows or office to stop the print preferences from following the document?


Scenario with 2 Examples.


History: a Microsoft Office file such as Word, Excel or Adobe PDF are saved on a shared network drive accessible by a small group of employees. Each user shares the same printer. The driver is not hosted on the server but installed locally on each work station. Each have their own printer preferences saved in their own driver.


Example 1:

The settings in this example are using secure print codes and or printing to the printer hard drive for a held document/mailbox number.

When User A opens, edits, prints, and saves changes to the shared document then User B opens the document to view and print that same document... User A's print preferences have been embedded in to the document causing User B to have to edit the settings. Their pin/mailbox number winds up being for the last person who saved the document.


This is the same for any of the users making changes and then another user goes to print. The users personal print preferences seem to be following the document upon saving it.


Example 2:

We have also seen this when emailing documents to other departments or customers; another example: My print preferences are "Auto Color". If I print a document that has color it will come out in color. But if I email that document to someone who has BLACK/WHITE/MONOCHROME as their defaults; the document prints in color for them too unless they manually change the document to black and white.


Brand of Copier does not impact scenario.

custom scaling documents for printing in windows 10.

• How you trying to scale the documents?
• Which application you are using for scaling the documents.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps.

1. Press control key + p.

2. Now select the number of pages you want to scale while printing.

3. Click apply.

4. Now click on print.

Windows 10 printing issue while printing picture from Document files.

• When you say that "I cannot print a picture from my Documents file", are you trying to print a picture present in a word document file or trying to print a picture on Windows 10?

Printing web pages in Windows 10

• Are you able to print via Internet Explorer 11?
• What kind of contents and extensions do you want to print?

I suggest you to perform the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps:

Method 1: I suggest you to follow the steps below to print documents in the Windows 10 Edge browser and check if it helps:

• 
  Once the document is open in Edge, press
  Ctrl+P or More actions button at the top last end of the browser.
  
• 
  Click Print as PDF button.
  
• 
  Check if the document prints as expected.
  

If the above steps did not work, try the next methods.

Method 2: Set your printer as default.

• 
  Press Windows key and type
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on view by and select large icons.
  
• 
  Open Devices and printers.
  
• 
  Right click on your printer and select set a default printer.
