Windows 10: Print to PDF from Word has stopped working: "Word can't print due to a problem with the...

I am running Windows 10.

Yesterday I had a problem problem with printing to an HP ENVY printer with the error message"Word can't print due to a problem with the printer setup." I could not print from Excel or Adobe either. This had been working fine before. I had problems trying to re install the driver from Control Panel. Eventually I went to the HP site and installed a new driver from there and thet was able to print again.


Today I tried to print from MS Word to PDF. This had been working normally. I started getting the error message "Word can't print due to a problem with the printer setup.". I have tried adding Print to PDF as a new printer as follows. Control Panel - Add a Printer - The printer that I want isn't listed - Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings - Use an existing port - select PDF - Choose manufacturer Microsoft - Look for Microsoft Print to PDF - it is not in the list - tried the Windows update option - a list of printer drivers appeared but PDF was not amongst them.

I tried removing Print to PDF from my list of printer devices, then repeated the above, but it still did not work.

I have been into "Turn Windows Features on or off" and found that Microsoft Print to PDF was ticked. I tried unticking it, saving, rebooting, then ticking it again. When I tried to save this time by clicking OK I got an error message "The changes couldn't be completed. Please reboot your computer and try again. Error code: 0x800F0922". I tried rebooting but the same error still occurred. A resolution to this error message was found via a Google search. This referred me to the .NET Framework installation files folder, but I don't have a .NET Framework instalation files folder.

Can anyone help to restore my ability to print to PDF please ? Thank you.

printer stopped printing word documents

My HP photosmart 5520 stopped printing word documents a few weeks ago. Still prints pdf and acts like it's printing word docs, but pages are blank.

 

Problem with printing Word or PDF documents I get the message "Word not Responding".

I've always been able to print my documents but in the last two days encountered a problem. When asking my email or word documents to print nothing happens. With Word or PDF documents I get the message "Word not Responding". From what I've seen this may
be linked to Windows 10 which I have. Any suggestions as to how to fix it as it is extremely frustrating, not to mention irritating?

MS Print to PDF not working

As near as I can tell, this worked BEFORE the latest Windows update.

In Outlook, when I attempt to use the Print to PDF as a print destination, I get an error
"Printer not ready".

Research showed a couple possibilities, so here's what I've done SO FAR:

• Made Print to PDF the default printer (claimed to fix the problem. Didn't work)
• I tried using Outlook in safe mode (Outlook /safe) and received exactly the same error as is "regular" mode.Turned off print to pdf in the windows features and rebooted, then turned back on print to pdf in the windows features. (claimed to fix the problem. Didn't work)
• There are NO commas or any other odd characters in the location to which I'm saving. Tried multiple destinations with no luck. Didn't work.
• Reinstalled Acrobat Reader. Works fine, PDFs open perfectly. Did NOT fix the "Print to PDF".
• When doing a "Print to PDF" from Word, I do not get an ERROR, but no output is created. Same exact thing when trying from a text editor.
• I have deleted and reinstalled the "Microsoft Print to PDF". This CREATES the printer, and allows me to print a test page as part of the installation. I don't get an error, but NO OUTPUT IS GENERATED. Trying to print a test page using print to PDF once the installation is complete (from printer properties, generates an error that says a "parameter is incorrect". No other information is provided.

AGAIN, this has been working absolutely fine since the original installation of Windows 10, using exactly the same versions of Outlook, Word, text editors, etc. As near a I can tell, this has only STOPPED working since the newest "creators update" a week or so ago...

What do now?
