Windows 10: Printer goes offline

Yes, check for malware first. See your netstat screenshot where it talks of DNS changer and conficker.

To change the printer IP address you need to access its settings. See your printer manual for network settings. Printers usually default to getting their address via the DHCP server which does raise the issue of how the printer and Charlotte got the same address ( .5). Mmm.

Perchance, is there any other network device like a modem, say? What you don't want is more that one DHCP server as address clashes will occur if you do.

OK, let's stop going round in circles.
1. Get the computer checked for malware. Malwarebytes from bleepingcomputer.com is a good start but bro67 has a link you could follow.

2. Tell us what is on your network. Modem, router, wireless AP (access point) etc.

From there we can make sure there is only one active DHCP server and move from that point.

The mention of Confiker in Netstat comes from comments (echo) in the .bat file that I use to execute Netstat:
"Echo 445 Conficker worm used this port in the past, normally used for shared
Echo printers and file sharing.
Echo Expected OK Connections
Echo TCP 192.168.1.4:50764 192.168.1.2:445 ESTABLISHED 4 Sue ASUS

I ran Malware bytes and found no threats.

 

Well, that was confusing!!

 

It is in the second post, second image. You are infected and that is why you are having problems. You need to clear all malware from all machines on your network first, before things will work. In DHCP Connections-
I got the printer (192.168.1.5) changed to static, but when I tried to change the IP address it gave me:
"Mac address already exists in wireless broadband routers data base"
Does this mean that I must delete that entry and re-enter it with address 192.168.1.200?

OK, you only have one DHCP server so we move on.

Can you delete an entry? Otherwise, try power cycling the router and then have another go at setting the printer address.

 

Change it to a higher IP. I have mine set at a static of 192.168.2.94/24.

My problem is now apparently solved.
I got some help from The "Geek Squad'. The agent showed me how to limit the address that could be dynamically assigned using the router pool.
In advanced mode IP address distribution on Network (Home/Office), we set IP address distribution at 182.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.174.
This made the address 192.168.1.200 available to the printer. We changed the printer address in IPv4 configuration in the
Office jet pro 251dw printer web site(192.168.1.200) to that address and set it to static - in the router.
He did assign port 9100, I am not clear as to why this was needed.
The printer has been working since July 25 without becoming disconnected.

 

The guy from Geek Squad must have been reading my post #5!!! It does help to get the basics of IP addressing right.
