Windows 10: Printer in error state/offline

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer and for the last week it will not print. It is either offline or in an error state. I have reinstalled it, turn it office, restarted my laptop and I am so frustrated. What else can I do. I am not tech savvy.

Method 3: If the printer is in Offline state, follow the below steps to

make it Online.

1. Click Windows + X, go to Control Panel
and click on Devices and printers.

2. Click Printer.

3. If the Printer is offline, it shows “Offline” status. If the Printer is online it shows “Ready”.

4. If the Printer is offline, set it to online.

5. Right-click on the printer and select “Use Printer Online”.

6. The display should change to ready when the printer is set to online.

"Printer is in Error State"

If your Windows 10 compatible printer’s displaying “Printer in error state” there may be a problem with the printer itself.

So before doing any changes, make sure the printer is properly turned on,connected
to your PC by the cable or Wi-Fi connection.

Also, check it for the low paper or ink and be sure printer’s
cover isn’t open and the paper isn’t jammed.

I have also faced this annoying error a month ago and thankfully making few changes in the Port Settings through Device Manager helped me in this situation. Here's how to fix Printer in Error State:

• First of all, open Device Manager.

• Click on View menu and then choose "Show hidden devices".

• Expand the Ports (COM & LPT) and right click on Printer Port
  then select Properties.

• Now, go to the Port Settings tab and then select “Use any interrupt assigned to the port” option.

• And also check the “Enable legacy Plug and Play detection” box.

• Finally, click on OK button to save the changes and then
  restart your PC.

These changes in Port Settings should fix Printer in Error State in Windows 10 operating system.

Both printers register offline for Windows 10

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

Resetting the power to your printer is a quick way to reset the printing system and prepare for further troubleshooting if necessary.

• 
  If the printer is off, turn on the printer, and then check the status of the printer:
  • 
    If the printer starts printing jobs from the print queue, your printer is clearing out queued print jobs and is online. You can stop troubleshooting.
    
  • 
    If the printer goes to an idle state after its startup routine, it might be online.
    
  • 
    If the computer still shows the printer as offline, continue using these steps.
    
• 
  With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  
• 
  Unplug the printer power cord from the wall outlet.
  
• 
  If you are using a USB cable or network cable, make sure that the cable has not become disconnected or damaged.
  
• 
  Wait at least 60 seconds. Restart the computer while you are waiting.
  
• 
  Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  
• 
  Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
  
• 
  If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
  
• 
  Try to print.
  • 
    If you can print, the printer is online again. Continue to the next step if the printer goes offline again when printing later.
    
  • 
    If the printer cannot print and remains offline, continue to the next step.
