Windows 10: Printer/scanner not showing in Windows settings - printers and scanners

My USB printer / scanner does not show in the list of printers but the scanner does show in the scanners section.


If I go to old style control panel devices and printers, the device shows in the Unspecified section with the following details





The device works absolutely fine with all programs. I presume Windows is not showing this device as a printer or scanner in settings because it is wrongly categorised. How do I get this to appear in the right places in settings?


I have Windows 10 Pro with the 1909 update installed.

Another method you may try is to uninstall and reinstall the printer. The following are the steps:



Remove your printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.

Install or add a local printer

• Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
• Under Printers & Scanners, see if your printer is installed.
• If you don’t see your device, select Add a printer or scanner. Wait for it to find available printers, choose the one you want, and then select Add device.

On the other hand, we suggest also that you reach out the manufacturer of your printer/scanner for the driver availability or work around.

Please take note that there are different ways to set up the printer/scanner. Some printers will start working when you plug it in to the computer. There are printers that need an installer from the manufacturer so that you can set it up. When you finish
setting up the printer, you also need to run the driver software or installer of the scanner so that it will start working. Just to clarify, what is the step-by-steps process you performed to set up the printer to your new computer? If you've used the installer
of your printer, does it include an installer for the scanner? We recommend that you visit the support website of your printer's manufacturer to see if there is an available installer for the scanner.

I'm new at wireless printer/scanner set up. I need to scan something and scanner does not show connected to internet. Thanks if you have a suggestion.
