Thank you. Preaching to the choir comes to mind. The nay sayers will continue to rant and rave about privacy violations that don't exist. The rest of us will continue on enjoying the best OS Microsoft has ever released.

Hum sorry thought this was was a tutorial my mistake. But in any case I still do not trust the wording of that EULA they put out I just think it is a bit rich they can delve into emails or my other personal data despite what those reports say there are more that say they can. Perhaps I am being a tad paranoid but it remains they said that and there are other nasty little surprises like the auto updates whether I like it or not - what goes into them leaves one wondering because I don't have the time or inclination to check them - IF I could. I just feel that on top of governmental services being able to tap your info - that with Microsoft being so devious 1984 has finally arrived.

    Privacy and Windows 10

I personally do not believe that Microsoft have any key loggers running on Windows 10. I am using Win 10 myself.

However privacy on Windows Ten I believe it is mostly a question of trust.
So far Microsoft has not being doing a very good job of earning trust.

My view is that they need to start again and rewrite their privacy policy in a short clear document stating exactly what data they collect, what they are going to do with it and most importantly what they are not going to do with it. Conditional statements in a blog are not proof of anything.

Then they need to stop doing underhanded things like back porting telemetry and the get windows 10 app to Win 7 and 8 using multiple obscure updates.

Posters on this forum who blindly believe anything posted by Microsoft, are not the ones that Microsoft has to convince.

    Not so fast!

"It was previously thought Microsoft would only include the background keylogger – which tracks every word you type – within its Technical Preview versions of the operating system."

Tracking the keystrokes of Windows Insiders using the pre-release Technical Preview would allow the US firm to use the vast data to tweak and improve the final release. However the slightly creepy software is now included as standard in the commercial version of Windows 10. And it cannot be turned off, the new revelation has confirmed. Microsoft has waited some four months since the release of Windows 10 to come clean about the core data collection processes working in the background of the operating system. This also marks the first time the Redmond firm has acknowledges that switching off all user accessible options does not stop all of Microsoft's tracking.

    Microsoft comment...
"In the case of knowing that our system that we’ve created is crashing, or is having serious performance problems, we view that as so helpful to the ecosystem and so not an issue of personal privacy, that today we collect that data so that we make that experience better for everyone."
The interview confirms a level of mandatory data collection within Windows 10 many had dismissed as the ramblings of conspiracy theorists.

I think it is pretty clear that Microsoft is collecting data and you have no ability to stop some of this collection. I think its creepy but whatever. So they want to know what kind of Porn I like? I am flattered. I don't want to get into an argument over it as it boils down to this - they are collecting data that you are powerless to stop(short of using another OS) and you either trust them to collect it or it creeps you out. I am not sure which take is better or worse. But those that casually cast aside their rights always make more concerned than the ones wearing tinfoil hats.

I think you're exaggerating this situation a bit more than it has to be. MS is not tracking everything like the article suggests and if you really want to worry think about what hackers can do and are doing.

MS is small potatoes compared to them and MS is not tracking you like it's suggested.

Just my 2c on it and there are other threads on this subject in the forum that go over this in much more detail.

    Are you serious? Really?

I have news for you: you are not important enough for Microsoft to spy on you. Get serious, throw your tinfoil hat away and enjoy Windows. If not, change your operating system. It's just that simple.
