Windows 10: Problem booting windows 10 PRO

I am pulling my hair out......all’s did was add some extra RAM sticks to my PC, dislodged some SATA cables and now I am in trouble....the boot SSD kept going missing, then it said no OS found, tried a bootable live Linux and using the boot repair option I was back in windows, hooray I shouted, but instead of doing a MR image backup, I shut it down and since then it hasn’t booted back up. I always always do MR image backups, but a few days ago had a clean up of old backups and like an idiot deleted all the full backups and left only the incremental ones, no good at all. Tried windows repair tool, and various Dos commands, but no joy, couldn’t do system restore as need to be within windows, apparently.....running out of ideas......if I use Kyhi's recovery drive, is this a way of doing a in place repair upgrade ?
need some ideas please ? I know I can clean install and use windows old, bu do t want to start again really.....*Shock

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.

 

windows 10 boot problems

I had windows 10 installed on my old laptop, I also had a boot problem, but my HDD just stopped spinning and I was unable to load windows.
It still had the Asus factory recovery partition which I used to reinstall windows 7.
I found out that my HDD was fine in windows 7, nothing wrong with it, staying with windows 7 SP1 on this laptop and I stay with windows 8.1 on my main laptop.
No windows 10 for me!
