    Questions are;
1 Has the ISO file been burned properly so that I can use the DVD to install Windows?
    2 The is unusable?
3 Is the problem with the DVD ROM not burning the ISO file or the disc properly and do I need to replace the DVD ROM?
    Advice gracefully appreciated.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 ISO too large to fit on a standard DVD-R

Okay so I have used the MCT to download and create an ISO image to burn onto a DVD+R. But, no matter what I do, it is always about 100 or so MBH too large to fit on the DVD+R. I have tried Nero 12 (Nero Burning ROM), IMGBurn, and none of them will burn
it. They just pop up an error as soon as I click burn, tellinjg em it is too large to burn onto the selected media. I am running Windows 7 64Bit Ultimate, and I have an LG WH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD rewriter drive. I am not using off brand disks either, I
am using HP brand DVD+R disks. Do I need to use a different kind of disk?

    CD copying in W10

    Hi,

If it were me, I would look online for a free Image Burning program... like ImgBurn for instance...

Some, but not all of the programs will also "CREATE" an image of a CD or DVD...

Something good to keep for backup BTW...

Then once you have created an image of the CD, you can then BURN the image to a new disk... Try to save the Image as a .ISO file, rather than some specific file type the program likes to use...

A .ISO Image is pretty much universal...

BTW... You may already have a free version of NERO or Cyberlink on your machine...

They are frequently included with the preinstalled software...

What type of disc are you trying to burn from the ISO file? The new Windows 10 ISO files requires a Double Layer (DL) DVD. We do not recommend using Rewritable (RW) discs. DVD DL-R discs is what we recommend and we recommend burning at slow speed, if the burning software allows for a speed selection. Since the ISO file requires a Double Layer disc, if you are not using a physical DL disc to burn to, the software may be trying to "overburn" a standard disc - put more data on it than it is designed for - and that may be causing the errors.

One way to test the ISO file is to mount it, you will get a new drive letter that appears - a virtual or simulated DVD drive. Then copy all the files and folders from the virtual DVD that appears to a temporary folder on your hard drive. If everything seems to copy OK, then the ISO file is probably good and you can delete the temporary folder you copied everything to.

What I am trying to do is for a friend who needs to install Windows 7 Home 64bit to a laptop which has Windows 7 32bit so he can use a CAD program which only comes in 64bit that his school has provided him with. He has purchased a download and key from the internet.
It is not Windows 10 that I need to burn but Windows 7 ISO!
I have downloaded the Windows 7 Home 64bit ISO to my Windows 10 machine but when I burn it with Nero Express 2017 and ImgBurn both applications complete the burn but with warnings as stated above, hence I would like to know if the ISO file is usable.

The error in your log, means that the burner is having problems writing the final Table Of Contents while closing the disc. This is not a good sign.

If the burned disc does not verify then there is a good chance it is corrupted and cannot be trusted for OS installation. For that matter, parts of it may be unreadable anyway.

    Some generic suggestions:

    • Burn at 8X (or even 4X) instead of 16X.
    • Be sure you have the proper/current chipset drivers (Intel, etc) installed on the PC you are using to burn the discs.
    • Try a different brand of blank disc.

Thanks for that. I have come to the conclusion that what you are saying about the burner having problems is correct as it is 9 years old.

I have today ordered a new burner with a higher specification.

OP - unless pc is really old, it should boot from a usb flash drive as NavyLCDR asked. Far less hassle.
