Problem with Add to Dictionary- corrected words still being underlined

When typing a document and a word gets underlined in red, half the time I see 'Add to Dictionary' greyed out. Even when it is working, the same word is underlined in red when I go on to type a fresh document - and that occurs when I restart the PC, too. As you can imagine, this is driving me nuts.

How Do I Add A Word to the Suggested Dictionary?

Simply type the word into a text message or email followed by a space or punctuation mark. The unknown word will appear with a red underline. Tap the word, and you will get the word appear in your suggestion bar with a '+' symbol to the left. Tap the word
in the suggestion bar to add the word to your dictionary.

Can't add words to dictionary using T9

I am trying to edit my son's name into the dictionary - "Tuyen" and have followed all the advice given so far. If I use the * option whilst the word is underlined, it accepts it; however when I tried to send a new message it is no longer an option in
the dictionary. How do I add it as a word permanently?

CUSTOM.DIC is already ticked so that's not the problem.

  6. If you have the custom dictionary set to something other than All Languages then Word only lets you add words that are in the language you specified. In other words, if you set the language in step 6 to French, then you won't be able to add any words that are in English, German, Spanish, or some other language. You can always set up multiple custom dictionaries and make sure that each of them is configured to the different languages in which you are working.
