    Problem with ASUS BW-12B1ST after Windows 10 Pro 2021 updates


    Recently installed new updates for Windows 10, and immediately after rebooting I experience degraded performance where the entire system would appear to freeze for about 200ms out of every second. Usually, this behavior means that there is some conflict or problem with device drivers so I started there. After doing standard device troubleshooting, I narrowed the culprit down to the ASUS BluRay burner devices ASUS BW-12B1ST a ATA installed on the machine.


    Disabling the device corrects the behavior, but of course, renders the device unusable. After some searching on the forums, I discovered that this isn't the first time there has been an issue with this particular device after a Windows 10 update.

    OS build 19042.906
    Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

    Hopefully, this post will help anyone else who might run across this same issue to save them some time in troubleshooting.

    Help...asus bw-12b1st will not read blu-ray dvd

    I bought an ASUS BW-12B1ST Blu-ray writer...installed and it didnt read ANY dvd...deleted from devices and restarted...it then played dvd's but NOT Blu-ray dvd...it lists as BD player under Computer...I run ANY DVD HD and it recognizes it as a blu-ray writer, but no play...OS is VISTA. Suggestions??

    Problem with ASUS BW-12B1ST after Windows 10 Pro 2021 updates

    ASUS BW-12B1ST driver

    Ever since the update to Windows Pro 10 version 1803 last Friday I have been unable to get my ASUS BW-12B1ST CD/DVD/Blue Ray drive to work. The only error message I find under Device Manager is that the file cdrom.sys has been corrupted. See images below.
    Can anyone suggest anything please?
