    Problem with restoring from Restore Point

    I have a Dell Insperion laptop (four years old, bought from Costco). It came with preinstalled Windows 8.1 with no installation disk. Later, I upgraded it to a free Window 10 from Microsoft website.

    An automatic Dell update app on the laptop indicated that there is a driver update (don't know for which component). I click on the button to install the update.

    After a while it said that the installation failed, and that I can restore the system back to a Restore Point that the app created. I clicked on the restore button at around 8:00 PM last night. It is stills trying to restore. As of last night at around 10:00PM it was telling me "System Restore is restoring the registry...", and it is still trying to restore the registry after more that 15 hours since the start of restoring from the restore point, and more than 13 hours since it started to restore registry.

    Questions:

    1. On average, how long should restoration from a Restore Point take?

    2. What should I do at this point to get back my system?

    3. What happens if I loose power or reboot the laptop?

    :)

    Problem with restoring from Restore Point

    the restore point

    Hi Alvaro,

    You can save the state of the operating system and your own files by
    creating a restore point, so that if future changes cause a problem, you can
    return them
    to previous versions and settings.

    We suggest that you check the article below and follow the
    guidelines and steps under Restore from a system restore point.
