Problem with today's WU? update to 1903, build 18362.388

At 2.30am (here) there was an attempted WU (KB4524147). And another (time unknown) for KB 4522738.

One of the updates was still running at 4.58am and my screen said "Cleaning Up x% complete. Don't turn off your computer" ***.

At 6.46am, the message was "KB4524147 Installing".

At 7.27am my laptop restarted yet again. The WUs finally installed at 7.40am & I now have v1903 build 18362.388 - I'll update my signature shortly.

Was this a general WU problem? Is the "Cleaning Up" message referred to above new? Is ther an article about it, please?

    :)

windows 10 1903 windows update error message

Hi, I searched the forum for your error message for you.

Specifically for 1903 build one user (Insider) reports this:
Version 1903, builds 18362 RC through 18362.113, WU and MS Store issue

    Just one example of several:
Windows 10 Update 'couldn't connect to the update service' problem

Resetting Windows update does not help.

An in-place upgrade repair install which keeps progs and data does.
    Tutorial available.

That's assuming no server issues, no firewall problems, no DNS issues etc. And note you say sometimes- so that might suggest something outside your system, rather than a repair being necessary.

    WU not finding KB4512508

The specs for the machine shows that you are not up to Version 1903 as the build shows 17763 and Version 1903 is 18362.xxx

Problem with today's WU? update to 1903, build 18362.388

Has anyone else experienced WU build number problems in the September WUs? Win10

Updating my spare laptop, I've found some strange things.

My signature on my main laptop includes this: "Win10 Home v1803 build 17134.285".
But this is lower than what the August WU changed it to, viz 17134.286 so my build number was going backwards.

To add to the confusion, my spare laptop (also Win10 Home and last updated in August) showed 17134.288.

After updating, I checked for updates on both and there was a second WU on both - two on the same day; does anyone know why?

The new build number on both is 17134.2320 and let's hope that there isn't a third WU (as happened once).

Has anyone else experienced these WU build number problems in the September WUs?
