Windows 10: Problem with windows SCM not starting intel proset wireless

I got an ASUS Zenbook 14 UX433FN laptop. It will be two years this coming September 2021.


All the while, this laptop was working great. Suddenly 1 day, the on-board Intel wifi adapter was not working yellow exclamation bang. Did all the troubleshooting install, reinstall, uninstall, restart, reset, upgrade...., but nothing worked.


At last, this workaround fix did the trick for me:


1. Disable the wireless network on BIOS

2. Enable the wireless network on BIOS


and my laptop will have the intel wireless adapter working again.


Upon looking at the event logs, found out that the difference of normal startup and doing the trick is that:


SCM service control manager will install intel proset/wireless service when I do the trick.


while in a normal startup, SCM will not install the intel proset/wireless service.


Intel wireless adapter is working fine after doing the trick.

BIOS is updated to the latest version.

Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.804.

Intel wireless adapter all updated to the latest version 22.30.0.


PS. when I unplugged the laptop, the intel proset service would disappear, and wifi would not work again. If I plugged it in, it will not work as well. Need to do the trick again for it to work. Doing the trick while unplugged will not work also.


So, everyday, I always do this:


ENABLE/DISABLE the wireless network in BIOS

Laptop should always plugged in.


It is annoying that you should always do that. This is only a workaround fix. Will there anybody know the root cause of this one and provide a permanent fix?

Intel PROSET Wireless no longer working after a Windows Update

Hi, I recently updated my Windows 7 laptop that I usually hook up to Ethernet, and after the update, the Intel PROSET Wireless software no longer functions, meaning that my computer cannot connect to the internet without a Ethernet cable. Once I system restore
to before the update, the wireless function will work. I have tried to restart the computer, reinstall the Intel PROSET Wireless software, use the repair function on the Intel PROSET, and made sure that all the services needed for PROSET are running, but I
still cannot connect wirelessly. Any suggestions on what to do next?

I recently reset my laptop to factory settings. They gave me a list of programs and items that were deleted by the reset. Do I really need Intel PROSet/Wireless Software?
