Windows 10: Problem with Windows Update - Windows 10, Version 1909 KB4552931 and KB4556799

Hi, I am having a problem for a long time with the following:


2020-05 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64 KB4552931 - Error 0x80073712

Status: Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: 0x80073712

Updating time takes forever, even several hours to no success. I tried several times to no success, probably since last February. I am told to wait for Microsoft to get a new update this month that may fix this problem. But it seems it hasn't been available to solve this problem.


Sometimes I had to pause Windows Update but sometimes it won't let me and it has interfered my work flow with the laptop.


I am unable to bring a laptop to a technician because of COVID-19 situation.


Is there a way with your help to fix this problem? Please let me know.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
