Windows 10: Problems Installing KB3172985

Hi,
Been trying to install this update since it's release. I've tried numerous fixes seen on the web, no joy. Update download fine, always gets to 98% complete then states it can't complete the update and rolls it back. Then of course, good old microsoft downloads it again, and boom, same old loop, I've finally hidden the update. Today, I got a line on KB 3172988, supposedly it fixed some issues in 2985 but same results for me............98% complete then ect ect ect. I've ran the update troubleshooter...........no issues, ran disk clean up to include windows update. Stop/started the update service though other updates install fine. I've been running win 10 for about 4 months now, first time I've ever had an issue, updating or other wise. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated........Thanks.

Windows Update (KB3172985) will not install

Hi all

Just to follow up on the faulty KB3172985 update that I was unable to install on my Windows 10 Home 64-bit PC.

The other day I upgraded Windows 10 with the new functional update of 2nd of August 2016.

The problem with KB3172985 seems eliminated after the functional update. The KB3172985 update does not appear any longer in Windows Update. I have now been running Windows 10 Home with the new functional update installed for 2-3 days and have had no problems.

So, for you out there, who has experienced the same problem as I with installing KB3172985, the functional update will probably solve your problem.

Cumulative update for windows 10 for 1511 for x64 based systems (KB3172985) update

Try downloading offline version of KB3172985 if this might help:

Download KB3172985 for 32 bit PC

Download KB3172985 for 64 bit PC

Both above links are from a third party website but I did try these links and they are working. Try installing depending on your PC platform. Hope this could help.

But before running Microsoft Standalone Installer, make sure to check if KB3172985 is not listed in installed updates in Control Panel. And there are no pending restarts on your PC.
