Windows 10: Problems w/ KB4562899 & KB4568831 preview update

Hi.

I installed the KB4562899 & KB4568831 update on 8/2. My desktop runs Windows 10 Build 19041.388.

After the install and restart, ALL notifications would not work. The notification sound is heard, but none are viewable.

In addition, the settings page changed where on the upper left side there are status icons for OneDrive & Windows Update where the status is continually update in progress.

Uninstalling the two updates will not work because it'll automatically reinstall them.

The solution is a system restore prior to the installation of the two updates. Upon completion of the system restore, return to setting and pause all updates. Then proceed to uninstall; each update one at a time and restart. This will properly uninstall the updates.

This update release is one of the worst updates I've seen since having Windows 10.

Is Microsoft going to address the problems caused by the updates? I'm pausing all updates for the next month.

What's up with Microsoft force feeding these "Preview" updates? They should have been optional updates, because they are "preview" updates.

As a general rule, I never install "preview" updates. That's a lessons learned from Windows 7.

These updates caused me immense problems on my HP laptop running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. They had an adverse effect on the HP Support Assistant which I was eventually able to uninstall and reinstall, but only after manually editing the registry.

I nearly had to reinstall the OS.

After multiple System Restore operations of which several were failed, I was able to recover from these "preview" updates.

I attempted to avoid installing these updates, but that wasn't possible.

Preview updates are for guinea pigs.

How do you avoid installing "preview" updates?

 

Anyone know the purpose of the Preview update KB4568831 released the 31st is?

I just got this update on two systems. It lists MANY fixes so why is it being released as a "Preview" and what does it mean for future updates.?

KB4568831 not installing

I am presently at version 20H2 OS build 19042.388. KB4568831 is failling to install, it just loops from installing to downloading back to downloading. The following is logger in event viewer

Error Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200D: 2020-07 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4568831).

I have ran SFC and DISM with no errors. Deleted files in c:windows\softwaredistribution\downloads with no help. Any ideas
