  1. Problems with Miracast - Windows 10

    Hello there.

    As I was spending my day in countless forums, called several part manufacturers for answers and got postponed wherever possible, I thought why not try my luck here, as there have been similar questions;

I'm having trouble connecting to my Sony KD-49XD8005 through both Screen Mirroring and WiFi Direct, thus linking my TV to my Windows 10 PC directly. I had no luck whatsoever.

Now the first thought that came to mind is that my PC is somehow not compatible, hardware or software. So I tried with different devices, oddly I wasn't able to project my Huawei P30 Pro by any means either, different methods of connecting on my PC, LAN on, LAN off. No luck.

Pressing Windows + K reveals that my PC isn't Miracast compatible, so I do the research and pretty quickly find out that there shouldn't be anything hindering Miracast from working.

    Here's my specs:

    OS: Windows 10 Pro 10.0.18362 Build 18362 64 Bit

    CPU: Intel i5-4960K

Internal Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600

    GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850

Network Adapter: Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260

    Intel Ethernet Connection I217-V

Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller NDIS 6.30

    Mainboard: Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI

So from the specs alone I would deduct that the Graphics Card is the problem here, as it doesn't feature a Video Coding Engine, which some forums supposed to be essential in terms of making Miracast work. On the other hand do my Intel HD Graphics and the Processor generation themselves enable me to use Miracast. I feel like there's some stupid setting I'm missing here.

Also weird: The TV is being found and can establish a connection, yet times out whilst the connection process every time, no matter if on PC or my phone, so it could be the TV acting up aswell. But the fact that my PC tells me that Miracast isn't available tells me there's more to try.

So the questions are: Has anyone made the same experiences or can say for sure it's the GPU bottlenecking all this? Would it help turning it off for the sake of the internal graphics? Ultimately that would mean there's no way around a new GPU when playing games for example, but still.

I'm looking forward to your ideas!

    :)

Windows 10 and Miracast what's going wrong?

A couple of months after I tried the TH2 update for Windows 10 that broke my ability to use miracast with my Intel Wireless-AC 7260 (Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I), it went wrong yesterday all of a sudden my pc couldn't fint my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter again, i found my laptop i use at work with Windows 8.1 Pro it find and connect my MWDA without a problem, then I firmware updated my MWDA and it still not helping.

Now I tried updating my Windows with the "MediaCreationTool.exe" so i am now running Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36) and I still can't find my MWDA, but i can connect and use wireless and bluetooth no problem, so i guess it's just not gonna happen for me to use miracast with my desktop pc *Frown Problems with Miracast - Windows 10 :(

I haven't had all these problems in Windows 8.1 Pro it's like Microsoft broke miracast with Windows 10 and there is a lot of threads about miracast problems, yet I haven't found a solution that works for me.

So if anyone got smth I can try to get it to work I will be happy, and I have already tested several drivers from Intel same thing, no Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter found.

    Does Miracast support 4K?

    Hello,

We suggest that you check with the manufacturer of the 4k display device that you are using if it is certified to work with Miracast. If your display device is certified to work with Miracast, then check if your PC device supports Miracast. You may do so
    by following the steps below:

    • Click Start, then go to Settings >
      Projecting to this PC
      .
    • Check if your device supports Miracast.

    Regards.
