Windows 10: Problems with Mouse and keyboard

I have been having this problem where I am idle for a few moments whilst watching a YouTube video or a tv show on my computer. My keyboard and mouse stop working. both are connected and show as connected on the PC but none of the keys on the keyboard work and with the mouse I can only move my cursor and use the scroll wheel. when I hover over Icons, nothing highlights. To be able to do anything I have to force restart my computer. Thanks In advance to anyone who can help me out.

• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

I suggest you to update the drivers for keyboard and mouse by following the steps below.

• Right click on Start icon and select Device Manager.
• Expand Keyboard (for keyboard) and Mice and other pointing devices (for mouse).
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.

Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard in Windows 10

One reason why your mouse and keyboard is not working is because of an outdated driver. We suggest that you update the mouse and keyboard driver by following the steps below:

• Pres Windows+X key on your keyboard.
• Select Device Manager.
• Locate the mouse and keyboard drivers, right click, then click on Update.
