Windows 10: Problems with Partitioning

Hi!


I never thought I'd need to ask a question here but I have a problem I can't seem to solve...


I use both Windows and Linux in dual-boot, with windows being my primary operating system. This is a bit of a struggle because my laptop only has 256 GB of storage and I use a lot of apps during my day. I recently reached a point in Kubuntu where I'm out of space so I thought I would resize my partitions, which at the moment look like this:




For some context, the partition named Acer is the one Windows uses, while the 8.57 GB that are Unallocated are the ones I want to combine with the 18.63 GB that Kubuntu uses, but it doesn't give me an option for that.


I'd like to know if it is possible to do what I want to or if I'll just need to resize partitions when I uninstall Linux.

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Uninstall problem


Open the Admin Command Prompt:

1. diskpart
2. List disk
3. select disk # where # is the disk that contains hidden partitions
4. list par
5. select partition #
6. delete partition OVERRIDE
7. repeat steps 5 & 6 for the additional hidden partitions.
8. exit

OR:
if you want to clean the whole disk, after step 3 above
Type: clean
Type: exit

 

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...


That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.
