    Problems with Preview Pane in File Explorer


    My System: Win10 Home 64 bit ver. 21H1 Build 19043.1237. Office 2019 v2108 Build 14326.20404 There seems to be a serious bug in the Windows file explorer when the preview pane is turned on. Here is my problem. When the preview pane is on, every time I click open a powerpoint file in the file explorer, the powerpoint file will automatically become “ read-only” file. But if the same powerpoint file is opened within the Powerpoint software, it becomes a “normal format” file again. Error also arises when I highlight a word file in the explorer with the preview pane on, a pop-up box saying “ Word c

    Hi,

    Setting the Preview pane to show or hide in File Explorer will apply to all folders. If you wish to hide the Preview pane in File Explorer, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Tap on View tab.
    • Click Preview Pane to view/hide it.

    Thank you so much for your reply.

    What I really need to know is how get the video to play in the preview pane. Prior to Windows 10, this worked wonderfully and was an asset. Now, it requires making changes to the Windows registry - not recommended due to the enormous amount of issues with
    Windows 10.

    Any other suggestions?
