  1. Problems with the updates from June, July or August 2020

    Hello!

Until now we have not found out which most likely cumulative updates of the last months exactly results in these problems but our users PCs Win 10 x64 enterprise v1809 and some with v1903 run in several problems afterwards:

1 Trouble with using PCL-printers after updating

2 Pdf24 cannot create new Pdf-files anymore after updating

3 PCs won't work with our WSUS-server anymore after updating and they won't update MS-Defender anymore too

Are this known problems, are there any workarounds or solutions?

Thank you, MS - again I am facing the problem that updating should be stopped until it is not certified that updates won't create problems ... And uninstalling cumulative updates / monthly rollups means removing security fixes as well.

With Win10 we had switched to MS-Defender only but now it seems that we need to install another antivirus-software as well.

Ever since after Win7 several of my IT-colleagues have switched to MacOS or Linux - and I hardly can blame them ...

    Regards

    Bernd

  3. Install fails for July 2020 and August 2020 cumulative updates for 1909 x64

I recently updated in June to version 1909 of Windows 10 on my 2018 Dell Inspirion 7373 laptop. I've noticed in Windows Update history that both the July 2020 and August 2020 cumulative updates have failed after multiple install attempts. The installation
gets to 100% and then I get a message that it failed and that it'll try again later. I've tried restarting Windows Update, clearing the distribution folder, downloaded and tried to update manually, etc. and the issue persists. I've search online to see if
anyone else is having the same issue and have found several people getting the same error code (0x800f0986) with the same version of Windows 10 (1909) and the issue seemed to start after updating to Windows 10 version 1909. Is this issue being looked into?
Troubleshooting Windows Update finds no issues and I really don't want to mess around with my computer any further since it seems to be a problem on Microsoft's end and I have college classes starting up in less than 2 weeks with it mostly being online coursework
and can't risk making my computer unusable by tinkering with it. I'm not having any other issues with Windows or the computer so it's really just me feeling uneasy because I've missed two cumulative updates now and I know security upgrades are within those
updates. The .Net Framework and servicing stack updates always download and install without issue, it's just the cumulative updates that download, install to 100%, then fail with an error code 0x800f0986.

Another unusual thing I noticed is sometimes when I look at Windows Update it has the green checkmark and says I'm all up to date even though in it's update history it says the cumulative update failed. Manually searching for updates brings up the uninstalled
cumulative update again only for it to fail again.
