Windows 10: Problems with windows 10

I dislike windows 10. A few of the reasons follow. I do not like to have to sign up for a microsoft account, I don't like how I have to save favorites, I don't like the microsoft having spyware on my computer, With XP I could choose what e-mail i would be using when checking on a send e-mail link, I have had numerous crashes, I have to be signed up to a microsoft account to use a lot of the features. I have a number of other complaints but if I listed them all I would have blisters on my fingers from all the typing. I think microsoft has been going down hill since XP as I wasn't that fond of 7 but I did like it better than 10. I will tell one other reason I hate windows 10 on the one computer that I still have 7 on microsoft tries to make me download 10*Mad

problems with windows 10 and google chrome

since loading windows 10 i have seen a number of frustrating issues when using google chrome which i have never had before. The most frustrating of these (i have a touch screen laptop) is if i drag the cursor over the screen it resizes either larger or
smaller which is not what i want. Not a techie so whilst i have tried to fix it looking at other issues i have still not been successful - any ideas how i can fix this please?

 

Computer shows blue screen and tells me that atikmdag.sys failed.

Windows 10 stops my computer and then gives me a blue screen. tells me that my atikmdag.sys failed. Have tried MS help but still have this problem. Any suggestion besides throwing away this computer?

 

You don't need to use a Microsoft account! And you can use any email program that you like and set it as the default. The so called spying stuff can be easily turned off. Settings Privacy.

It isn't 'spying', but when you click on the start button, click settings and click privacy you are at the part where you can configure all those stuff. If you go spend a few minutes there you can configure it the way you like. Be aware that changing some of those settings may affect other apps/programs to not function proper.

 

I am pretty sure I tried the settings to try to make yahoo mail be my primary mail.

 

Where did you try to change that? What I described is for the privacy, not for the default apps.

That can not be helped, unless you use a different browser or a standalone app for saving favorites.

They are Microsoft services, you do not complain to have to sign in to Google to use Youtube, Gmail and such.

Most crashes are related to outdated drivers or software. Check, if you have the recent ones.

For the record, I do not like 10 either, most people do not, but they have got used it, not like there is a choice. *Nerd

 

@twdeb, I would strongly advice to not use any driver update program to install drivers with, checking is fine but don't install. There are numberous crashes due to drivers from such programs.

 

That is why I recommend only checking, its download speed is pathetic anyway, good for small drivers like CPU or network, but it has found drivers, even critical, which were not found by Windows, nor are listed on manufacturer webpages. For example AMD SATA drive does not even install, when you use AMD installer, it has to be done manually.

 

Some understand with checking, see if updates are available and if there are > install them, hence the reason why I added my post.
AMD sata drivers are usually included in the chipset drivers, chipset drivers are shown in driver update programs, is my experience.

 

Yes, they are included in chipset drivers, but they do not install.

 

If I can I will still use Xp as my favorite computer system. I have used 10 since it came out but still have trouble with it. I will not buy another computer as long as I can use XP or 7, Thanks for all the help I will try the links when I have a day or two to waste.
