Windows 10: Process breaks when importing over 28,000 photos from Iphone to Microsoft Photos App

Microsoft Photos App does run the process and counts the over 28,000 photos 128 GB from my iphone but does not continue to the screen where you select which pictures to import. Process worked fine til 25,000 photos and stopped working last august 2019. Not sure if there is a limit on number of pictures or size Windows or the app can read? My computer has more than 1TB space so no problem with that. All programs are updated. Attached screen where process stops and after some minutes the App is closed without importing the pictures. Any ideas?

Ps. Sorry if I chose wrong Category but cannot find Apps Category nor Microsoft Photos as a product or category...

iPhone Photos import to Windows 10 PC not working

I would like to troubleshoot my inability to import photos from iPhone to Windows 10. I am an advanced user struggling to find relevant help on the internet since most results are unusable masked adverts for paid third party software.

I want to use it the following way

1. connect iPhone via USB to my Windows 10 PC
   
2. open Microsoft "Photos" app
   
3. click in the upper right on import > add from the device over USB
   
4. select all photos and click import
   

4th step is where it fails, with no usable message.

• I have set the device as trusted on iPhone
  
• I mostly don't see it in My Computer, therefore I cannot just copy
  
• I tried uninstalling every driver and iTunes software
  
• Despite not being visible in Windows Explorer, iTunes can always access the contents with no issue
  
• it has a tiny moments when it starts working, but overall import fails sooner or later and never copies all 3k photos. Mostly MSPhotos don't show any content, just failure message, sometimes it shows it's content and acts as I can select what to import, but as described fails sooner or later
  
• iTunes can successfully copy entire phone.
  
  Other attempts
  
• I tried multiple free 3rd party SW, all of them either failed or seemed like to be usable only after buying their extended version
  
• I tried using iTunes for Syncing the Photos
  
  • I maybe don't know how to use it, or it is faulty too. But I've set the directory where my Photos should be synced, but sync seems to just backup the phone and creates tiny 'Photo Database file', but no photo actually gets copied onto PC.
    

 

Photos app doesn't import photos from Iphone

We understand your concern as you are unable to import the pictures from your Iphone to the PC using photos app. We appreciate your effort in troubleshooting the issue and providing us a detailed information about it.

In this scenario we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if that help to fix the issue.

1. Open Settings on iPhone
   
2. Check for Transfer to MAC or PC option
   
3. Under Transfer to MAC or PC, mark the ‘Keep Originals’
   
4. Disconnect and Re-connect the device
   
5. Try to import again.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the issue, then try this work around and let us know the status.

1. Connect your Iphone to the PC via USB.
2. Then open File Explorer and go to
   This PC. Double click on the Iphone Drive and click on
   Internal Storage.
   
3. Then navigate to DCIM and select the pictures that you want to import.
   
4. Copy and paste them in the Pictures folder of the PC (Create a folder inside the Picture folder).

Photo import from Iphone not working

I am trying to import photos from my iphone into photos but when i try my computer recognizes my phone is connected but then when i select it and press import it says "something went wrong" and tells me to try again and the cycle repeats. Any suggestions?
