Windows 10: Product Key unavailable

I bought a Win 10 Pro 64bit DVD with product key from B and H for a PC I was building


When I removed the security covering, the product key also was removed, leaving a scratched up area on the label. I can perhaps guess at 12 of the characters and all tke others are not availabe.


Rang B and H - no one available, so I rang Microsoft and they said to call vendor.


Emailed, chatted, rang B and H and finally I got a call back and they said to bad so sad you can buy another one if you like.


Where do I go from here now ?


Clearly defective product in the manufacturing and no one will honor a failed product.

Where is my Product Key if I want to re-install?


Like davidhk said. But if you really want to see your windows key, I would suggest Belarc advisor. It will give you some useful information about your system, product keys of your software is among them (not only Microsoft, you will have listed most of your keys).

i know the product id but forget the product key

There is still a way to search for your product key. Kindly follow the steps below for you to know your product key:

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (admin)
• Enter the following command: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
• Then hit Enter

The product key will be revealed, copy the product key then enter it.
