    Program Files and ModifiableWindowsApps folders created in another drive


    Windows keeps creating a Program Files folder on another drive G that isn’t the system drive C. Within it there is only a folder called ModifiableWindowsApps. Every time I delete it and restart my PC it is back. Before you provide suggestions, here’s what I’ve already checked. System settings for new contents and pretty much every type of app/thing in the where to install section is set to the C drive. Yet it keeps installing to my Gaming drive G. It does not however install to my other 2 additional drives P and R. The registry has Program Files directory set to C drive. The only things se

    I always check my disks for empty folders [Glary]
    I have found TWO instances of "Program Files/ModifiableWindowsApps" folders on
    Both C: [System] and on my Data drive D:

    On D: I used Take Ownership and deleted "Program Files/ModifiableWindowsApps" folders.
    Checked 2 mins later and back.

    On C: original untouched, with older date, probably WIN Update

    Obviously as D:\Program Files/ModifiableWindowsApps are empty, not a real issue.

    Is there an "alias or link" in original on C:

    unable to delete D:\Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps

    I'm unable to delete - D:\Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps folder which is empty. windows don't allow me to delete it. I have tried to change permission but that also not done. I
    have also tried to delete by starting pc in safe mode.

    Please let me know how to delete it.

    WIN 10 Pro 'Program Files/ModifiableWindowsApps' folders not on C:

    Go to Settings > System > Storage > More Storage Settings > Change where new content ...

    Change Storage Save Locations in Windows 10

    If any setting there is not C:, it's probably because you changed it, and it indicates D:, because that's where you install your own programs by choice, rather than on C:. Lots of us try to keep programs off the System drive as much as possible. But if you reset one of those "new content" settings to D:, it'll create a new Program Files\ModifiableWindowsApps folder on D:

    Revert the setting and dump the D:\PF\MWA folder (as you've done), and there should be no more instances of that folder being created.
