    Some programs that are listed in both the Startup Apps and the Startup tab of the Task Manager do not automatically start when the system boots. In any event, I think programs that are listed in the Startup Apps and the Startup tab of the Task Manager should automatically start when the system boots. Some of them were, but two in particular were not: Keepass, Rainlendar2.

    I may be using the wrong terminology for "system boots." I ran a program, Malwarebytes, that automatically "restarts the computer" after downloading and installing updates. In this case, Windows system updates were also installed, which would have automatically restarted or booted the computer.

    The two programs that didn't start have always started in the past.

    Programs not showing in startup tab in task manager

    I recently discovered that the apps I set to run on startup were not open, I had to run them manually. Thought it was a fluke but it happened the next day. I thought, no problem, I'll just open up the task manager startup tab... and then I discovered that
    the programs I want to start are not listed (Steam and Discord)

    Here is a screenshot of my task manager startup tab if you need it. (A lot of programs have been removed from it for some reason)

    BUMP! can someone check there startup tab in Task manager and see if it lists any programs with the enable/disable option like in 8/8.1 Thanks!

    Task Manager-Startup

    Here are three methods to invoke a task:

    1. By placing a program or a shortcut into this folder:

      c:\Users\Michael\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    2. By specifying it in this registry location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    3. By creating a scheduled task that gets triggered at startup or at logon time.
