Windows 10: Programs not responding

Recently my Lenovo Windows 10 pc freezes to the point that it now longer functions with out removing power and restarting. This can occur both when in active use or after coming back from sleep mode. Programs including all Office products are gray with the spinning icon and program not responding message. Also, the touch screen functionality is mostly gone (this has been the case for a while and may have occurred after an earlier windows update). Occasionally it will return after removing and reinstalling the HID setting. But most times not. Both issues are very limiting, especially if in the middle of something and the entire PC freezes. Any suggestions?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.
