Windows 10: Prompt local user account to change their default password?

    Windows 10 settings, Accounts, Family & Other Users, Add someone else to this PC. I create a new account with "I don't have this person's email", so it's just a local account.Is there a way that I can force it to prompt the user to change their local password when they first log in?thanks

    Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

    Hi,

    I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

    • Click on search in taskbar and type account.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
    • Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
    • Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
    • Now, login to Local account.

    Almost!
    I found the user, but Windows in their great wisdom won't let me delete it.
    Is there a way to stop it attempting to log in there as default?

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.


    • Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?
    If you are using local account, I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the user name.

    Please follow the steps to rename the user account in Windows 10.

    a. In the search box, type user accounts and click on User Accounts.

    b. Click on “Change your account name”

    c. If it’s prompting for password please enter and click on Yes. If you do not have password click on Yes.

    d. Enter the new user name.

    e. Click on change name.
