About the "Clean Boot": Right Click on Start Icon, then choose "Run" and Type "msconfig.exe". Then it will open a Window and there on the "General Tab" click on "Diagnostic Startup" and then click "Apply". The computer should then reboot.

About screenshot: On the Keyboard there is a "Print" button. Press it, then open "Paint" and "Paste from Clipboard". Save the file as JPG.

  2. I clean booted my computer the fan is still running pretty high and now the sound and internet doesn't work( I use Ethernet ) is that supposed to happen?

Edit:disregard that, I think the computer is fixing its self now, going to see what happens.

"Clean Boot" means that you are running with minimal Drivers Installed. It can happen that somethings do not work.
As it is said is a "Diagnotic Mode" for testing purposes only.
    It is not fixing anything.
Work like that for a while and watch if the problem is gone.
If so, you have a Driver/Software problem and you need to figure out which one the culprit.
After testing, you will need to switch back to "Normal Boot".

Oh OK, didn't know that it still had the same issue, the fan is running high and heat is still an issue, I will go back to normal boot up and send you a picture of my task manager.

Do not be so quick. Keep in mind that CPU is quite hot and it will take some time to get cold again. A little pacience is necessary.

EDIT: with that patience thing in mind, I will let my laptop sleep for an hour, and post a new picture of the task manager at that time, to see if there is any difference.

  7. Looking at the shot of your Task Manager I see a problem.
I would remove Driver Genius, them run a scan with Malwarebytes if you have it.
If you don't have it installed download it from here, opt out of the 30 day trial.
Malwarebytes | Thank you for downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Driver genius shouldn't be a problem, I installed after my problem arose, as well I have malwarebytes and other programs that help clean up my laptop. But I'll try it before I go back to windows 8.1.

You should remove Driver Genius Completely from your system, and don't install ANY Driver update programs!! They always cause more trouble than their worth!!! Computiac is 100% Correct !!!
After uninstalling that piece of crap, you should download AdwCleaner as soon as possible and let it run. This will help you find anything else that might be affecting your computer. Here is the link.
    Download AdwCleaner

You should check on HP's website for your drivers, those drivers are made to work correctly on your laptop. Some of your problems could be because of installing drivers, that Driver Genius installed for you.

*Ditto*Ditto on both these posts! Apps like Driver Genius and the like are pure Snake Oil! Avoid like the plague!!!

    Back to your original problem.....heat

I noticed you said you changed from the HP recommended power plan to High Performance. Was there a good reason to do that? Have not seen anywhere in this thread where you tried setting it back to HP Recommended, reboot, and see if it helps. Would suggest you at least give it a try. Quick, simple task that may help. Then again, may not. Can't hurt to try!

Good Suggestion f14tomcat, one more thing the OP said, it that he thought his CPU was overclocked. You Can Not Overclock any cpu on an HP Laptop or Desktop, the bios will not allow any overclocking on any HP product. *Smile

  14. I wonder what else lurks under the covers ... what other questionable software might be on the machine.

As a general rule - drivers from Windows Update work with Windows ..... period

The ONLY reason to go to an OEM site is if
    1) Device Manager flags a device and you determine it is needed.
I have a flagged device, but I don't need it, so it stays in the unknown category.

    2) Your machine exhibits behavior that the vendor has listed as fixed in a more recent driver.
Sure sometimes an updated driver fixes an issue not listed, but sometimes a reinstall of the same driver fixes the issue.
    bit-rot and all that *Wink
HartyMc: Please laucnch a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter the following command:

    wmic product get name,version /format:csv > %TEMP%\listInstalled.txt
and attach %TEMP%\listInstalled.txt to a new post.

    Thanks

This could be a subjective Bill, as I prefer to get SOME of my drivers from the Manufacturer, always have. Windows update can install old drivers, seen it happen to me more than once!! Getting your drivers from the company that made your computer Will NEVER harm your system!!! Same for any graphics card that you install, you should get them thru only that manufacturer that made the gpu card and NOT MS. But I'm sure their are different opinions on this subject. I prefer getting them from the manufacturer when its possible. *Smile
