Windows 10: Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network adapter and Windows 10

The above is the title to a question ask by Deb O. on May 17, 2018 about losing wifi router connections (the thread is now locked). Her text is exactly what is happening to me (losing connection constantly and having to reset her router often.) However, all the links she posted for Atheros drivers are not working. I was advised by my internet provider that I could buy a USB adapter to bring my connection up to 5 Ghz to help with the interference I'm getting when streaming videos. I can't figure out if this can be done for my particular pc. I have the above network adapter inside my Win10 laptop showing 802.11 Preamble in the Advanced tab. I also have a 3.0 usb port. Do I need a dual 2.4 to 5.0 Ghz or can I just get a 5.0 Ghz dongle? Will a wireless adapter even work with the above network adapter on my laptop? Thanks.

Are you coming to the conclusion that your wifi network adapter (specifically the Qualcomm Atheros AR956x) is faulty because Windows trouble shooter cannot resolve your wifi connectivity issues? I was. I finally found a driver that seems to have solved the
problem. See link below.

My Windows 10 laptop (an Acer Aspire) repeatedly lost its ability to connect to my Wifi network. If I restarted my router it would work until the next time the laptop slept, hibernated or shut down. The trouble shooter could never resolve the issue and the
so-called search for updated drivers always told me I had the latest one. I spent hours trying every so-called solution posted on this and other forums to resolve this issue with no success. After trying various search parameters for drivers I finally found
a link to the driver that solved my problem. (Atheros was the key, not Qualcomm.)

I do not know why Windows does not find this driver when searching for updated drivers for the AR956x.

I installed it yesterday so it's still early days but so my laptop has seamlessly resumed it's wifi connection after shut-down, sleep and hibernation. It was so great this morning to discover I did not have to restart the router to get the laptop back online!

I have the same problems, Windows 10 updated and we lost the wifi. Have tried the above and still no fix. How do I fix this?
