Windows 10: Question about Storage Spaces

Hello.

I currently use a Storage Space configuration in which I've combined 2 1TB drives into 1 storage pool with simple/no resiliency (essentially RAID 0).

I'm now running out of space in this pool and was wondering if I can add a single 2 Tb drive (of another brand than the ones I already use) to expand the storage pool?

Will this lead to any issues? Is it preferable to have 2x1 TB drives over a single 2 TB drive for this? Also, when adding a drive to the storage pool would all existing data in the pool be wiped out?

P.S: I know of the dangers of using RAID 0 and as such have backed up my data 3 different ways to prevent data loss, so you don't need to warn me about that.

Low Storage Space - couple questions

Hi Claire,

The low storage space that you are experiencing might occur due to an automatic backup files that consume your hard disk space when creating a restore point. To turn it off, follow the steps below:

• Open Settings, and click/tap on the
  Update & security icon.
• Select Backup on the left side, and turn off Automatically back up my files on the right side.

To disable hibernation option, you may check the following steps:

• Right-click on the Start button, and choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the pop-up menu. If you are prompted by the User Account Control asking if you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer, click
  Yes to proceed.
• In the Command Prompt window, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off and press
  Enter. Exit the Command Prompt window.

Unfortunately, following your suggested procedure it appears the Storage Spaces parity error persists.





Any other suggestions?

 

Problem with Storage Space

Funny...on actually reading the title on that unrecognized status disk, it is titled Microsoft Storage Space. I was ust surprised to see it listed in the drive list.
