Windows 10: Question about Windows 10 Product key online recovery

Hello, a few months ago while I was searching Microsoft Help I saw a suggestion to store my Windows 10 product key online. I was asked to make an account in Microsoft for that purpose and so I did. My thought was that if I came across any problem running windows in my pc and had to reinstall windows I could easily recover the product key which came with my computer when I bought it. Does anyone know what I am talking about and what the process is to retrieve my key by providing my account credentials ?

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

1. What is the version of Windows installed on your PC, is that Windows 10 Home or Pro?
2. Are you receiving any error message, when you are trying to activate your Windows 10?
3. Have you purchased the product key for Windows 10 while purchasing the laptop?
4. How did you run windows recovery?

Can anyone give me the reset recovery key for windows 10

A quick question before we proceed:

Are you referring to the Recovery key for BitLocker or the key that needed for resetting Windows Phone?



If you are referring to the Reset Key that is needed for Windows Recovery, then I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps:

• Go to account.microsoft.com/devices.
• Next to the phone you no longer own, click I don't own this phone anymore.
• Select “I’m ready to remove my phone “check box, note the
  recovery key, and then click Remove. The recovery key will display on the page and will also be emailed to you.
• When you're certain that you have your recovery key saved, select “I’ve kept a copy of the recovery key “ check box, and then click Okay.
• Forward the recovery key email to your phone recipient.

Your phone is no longer listed on account.microsoft.com/devices, and you can remove Reset Protection during phone setup using recovery key option.
