I use it in dual boot and VM but for testing ONLY. It's not because it breaks down or has bad flows but because my main system is too important to run only an untested OS and without knowing what new and untested feature will be implemented that may break up my setup. The one in VM is set to work same as 8.1 (no Start Menu) and of course does not have many programs and specially no games because of problems with resolutions that come from inability to install proper drivers.
Full instal is on a HDD instead of SSD and because of that is slower than 8.1. Also waiting for new GPU to arrive so I can test some games. Right now it's an ancient HD2400 which is noticeably slower than HD3850 I had till couple days ago.
There are just too many features coming to 10 for which we have no idea how will they be implemented and what influence it will have to OS, to be able to use it as full time OS. It might feel just fine now but what is the future going to look like ?
There are also concerns jimbo has, which are nothing to be dismissed lightly. Privacy and safety are big concern nowadays and should be taken seriously. Being behind computer, screen and internet is not an isolation from problems, quite an opposite, it's a conduit to increasingly cruel and dangerous world.

  4. Question? Have you installed Win 10 and use it everyday?

I use it for about 1 to 2 hours per day, reading things in the apps, checking internet and email (general things I do first thing on a morning)

After that I am glad to go back to Windows 8, as the workflow for me is much nicer

When the consumer version comes out I might use 10 a lot more

I'm with you Jim, lamenting that currently I don't have a spare machine or even enough spare parts to slap one together.
However I am enjoying reading about others' experiences and viewing their screen-shots.
For the spring-boarders from the 7 forum, there is enough common cause here that hopefully, M$ will listen to those who are testing.
In the meantime, all I can do is hope my situation changes before April so I can check it out for myself, or just wait for the retail release.

  8. Question? Have you installed Win 10 and use it everyday?

I'm using it in VMware, I'm posting from it now, I don't use it all the time though as I'm still finding my way around sorting out what I want installed on it. I like it and hopefully will buy it if the price is right when it comes out, it would be great if they did a deal the same as they did for Winows 7. I'd much prefer to have a full retail copy.

As far as I can tell, nowhere within the system are there any references to "Windows 10"

If the key SKU designations are anything to go by... Technical preview is referred to as Win Next Pre-Release which only has OEM SKU's viz. CSL, CountrySpecific, CoreConnected etc ( - that probably explains why we are using Windows 8 keys for this release) - others are named merely Win Next ( has Starter and Professional - no Core SKU that I can see)

We'll see what new builds have in store *Smile

First off I need a computer and I use Windows 10 as my daily OS.
Second, I've worked at quite a few IT shops to understand what disaster recovery is all about and I have my system fully set up to restore it in about one hour from nothing.

IMO, I have zero concerns about my banking information being on my current Windows 10 PC. I'm having lots of fun and using Windows 10 as my production OS. *Wink

You can see a lot of the software I have gotten installed on the Rocketdock bar.

Dual booting is really the way to go, it works just as it would if it was the only OS, and you always have your original OS to fall back on.

A lot of my installed software, i.e. all of the games ran without being reinstalled.
I just created a link in Windows 10 and they ran.
