Windows 10: Question on Security for Nearby Sharing and Workgroups

I am trying Nearby Sharing and I used the setting of sharing and receiving form my devices only. How does Windows 10 know which devices are mine? I have two laptops with the same Microsoft Account and password. Does that set them apart sufficiently so that other devices cannot share? Also, when I am on a public network is Nearby Sharing disabled if I have discovery on a public network off? I set up a Workgroup by renaming the "Workgroup" in Windows 10. I was going to use it for sharing but when I enter it into the "share with specific people" I get the message that it cannot be found. Thanks.

"Share" Button missing in File Explorer for Nearby Sharing

I followed the procedure given in the link, also removed the registry entry from the blocked list of keys, still, there is no Green Share button to use Nearby Sharing.

I guess you didn't understand my question properly?

 

What's wrong with Nearby Sharing?

I can't see any way to tell Nearby Sharing what kind of network to use (Bluetooth or WiFi). And I just can't turn BT off because I use a BT mouse.

You can try the following procedures in the links below:

Open Settings >> Click on System >> Click on Share experiences >> Turn on the Nearby sharing toggle switch.

Also, Check if is enable Nearby sharing using Action Center:

Open Action Center (Windows key + A).

In the Quick actions section, click the Nearby sharing button.
