Windows 10: Questions about installing Windows 10

I currently have Windows 7 and I think it's time I finally make the switch to Windows 10 since the support for Windows 7 has stopped. This is the first time I'm upgrading and I'm not really sure how this process works. I see where it says "Download tool now" on the Microsoft website for Windows 10, what exactly does that do? I have a very old key for Windows 10 I purchased a long time ago but I'm not sure if those can expire or not. Is a key all you need to activate the full version of Windows 10 or do you need something else? I've seen that it costs $139 for the home version but I've seen multiple articles saying "Get Windows 10 for free in 2020" but I'm not sure if they're legit or not. I just don't want to mess anything up and not run into any problems seeing as I'm really clueless. All help will be appreciated, thank you!

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
