Windows 10: questions about reinstalling windows 10

so i want to reinstall windows 10due to some problems , i have some questions regarding data loss eetc

i want to reinstall without losing any data , i have games , musics , pictures , videos and many other things , and i dont want to lose them , is it possible to reinstall without losing them ? i did some youtube search etc , says keeps personal files , but are games personal files ?

Can i know what folders will be deleted ? i heard this will be deleted

my driver C is 400GB and D is 20GB , most of my data(folders ,games etc )is inside C


if i change the location of my games folders and pictures etc from program files to a new folder i create in C , will they be saved or lost ? or how is the way to not lose anything of this data ? or if some data will be lost , tell me which ddata will be lost , like will games be lost ? will programs be lost ? etc , please help me <3

Start Button not doing anything Windows 10 plus calculator not working

The problem is that we cannot use the start button on Windows 10.

In such a case, how are we supposed to utilize method 1 and method 2 when you refer to the usage of the same button in order to run these commands: sfc scan and DISM?

I used method 3 to no avail.

Question about the Windows 10 reinstallation USB device

But now I need to check something with you. You say above that the device needs 4 to 8 GBs of space.

The device I was planning to use has exactly 8 GBs.

Initially I thought I only would have to worry about 4 GB of files, so I thought the 8 GB would give me a little extra space just in case some of the files are larger than anticipated.

Should I use a device with more than 8 GBs of space, to make sure I won't run out of space?

 

First off, you should have an current backup of your personal files (ie) Music, Documents, Pictures, Game Saves on a separate drive, either Internal (ie) D: or External USB. You should always keep this current whether you are going to reinstall Windows or not. A 20GB D: drive may be adequate for some backups but is really too small. This drive can easily be replaced with a much larger capacity drive. You then can use Windows Backup/File History, or just drag and drop your personal files to this drive for backup.
As stated, you can do an In Place Upgrade of Windows and it will try and keep your personal files, and programs and just reinstall Windows. If that is not possible, you may have to set the computer back to Factory Default settings .
What is the make and model# of your computer? Your profile says it is a Lenovo Laptop?

 

The problem that you are having needs to be known to suggest the best option as some problems can and cannot be fixed by an in place upgrade repair.
If you can perform an in place upgrade repair to fix the problems that you are having then that is the best option to keep files and applications.
If you want a ball park estimate of the size of an external drive needed to back up all files then you can click on file explorer > this PC > C: > and right click on the users folder then left click on properties. This is a ball park size. If you were to copy only the needed users folders then the size could be substantially smaller.
Once you copy the users folders you can then perform a clean install and restore the user folder or user folders.
Similarly you can make a backup image and restore the image using Macrium, Aoemi, Paragon, etc.

 

i mean , i dont have external USB devices and cant increase the capacity atm , i want to reinstall windows and keep all my files (like they are now ) , is that possible ? data includes games pictures videos music etc , everything ! or can you tell me Which "data" is lost ? do games get lost ? videos ? i heard apps get lost what is apps like ?

There are websites that offer free cloud storage. Each website has a different amount. If necessary you can add up the numbers and see if this method is worth the time and effort. Alternatively you could get or borrow a flash or external hard drive from a friend or relative. And if necessary there are websites for purchase so that you have the tools that you need.

You can`t reinstall windows without loosing everything on that partition.

But you may be able to do a repair install if you are having issues with Windows.

Yes, if you reinstall windows you lose everything on C, But a repair install fixes any windows issues and preserves your data and programs.
