Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD

    Hello,

I'm going to post two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart

    • My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers.
    • The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.

I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.

I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen and I have no higher computer knowledge.

I'm attaching the zip file required.

    Thanks,

    :)

  2. Complete computer freeze.

My computer is completely freezing after doing a fresh install of Windows 10 I have tried using multiple hard drives to see if I had a hard drive failure. I have used the system repair tool by restarting my computer 3 times on the loading dots. I cannot
get this system to work correctly. I need help as soon as possible. The symptoms started when I would have random freezes for only a few moments at a time. So I opted to do a fresh install of Windows. Now when it freezes she does not recover the screen, the
mouse, and the keyboard are all stuck in the last position from the moment at froze.

  3. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (BSOD)

Hello, I have been getting a random BSOD and occasionally the computer completely freezes without any error info. But when it does get a BSOD it says the following:

Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD :( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We’re just collecting some info, and then we’ll restart for you.

    Stopcode:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

    What failed: stornvme.sys

I have done a complete Windows Clean install. After I still got the same stop code I ran a malware scan but it said my computer is virus free. I tried updating all drivers in device manager and I think I updated all of them. The computer still freezes. I
tried monitoring my CPU and GPU temp but they both stayed at 50 degrees so its not the computer overheating that cause the freeze. I went into the CMD and ran both a disk check and tested my RAM for corruption. I have been struggling with this problem for
5 days and it would be great if this problem got fixed. I would appreciate help.

Wow, this sounds like the same thing that happened to a friend of mine when his hard drive was failing. Replaced the drive and the freezes went away. Even the buzzing noise.

Also you may need to look at what drivers you may have just install/updated.

Hoping you don't have any failing hardware "Motherboard, video card, etc". Those are expensive

Do you have access to another PC to test? If your video card is possibly having issues, swapping your card with another card could check for possible causes.

Is there a way to diagnose the hard drive? I built this computer 6 months ago so my components should be under warranty.

Sadly, I don't have any other computer to test my components on. And even if I do, freezes occur very rarely so I would have no way to diagnose it 100% with another computer.

How rarely are you talking about?

One way to test the health of your HDD is to download HD Tune, that will check the health of the hard disk. Also what kind of hard disk do you have?

I use a program called HDD Regenerator that checks for bad sectors on the disk and attempts to repair the disk without damaging your data. I have it on my Hiren Boot CD version 10.4. Not sure the current version offered online, but you could download the hirens boot CD, burn it to a CD, boot to the DOS program, go to hard disk tools, and find HDD Regenerator. It's a good program.

Now, the problem my buddy had, is when we repaired the bad sectors, the bad sectors would come back. The computer would do a hard freeze and we would have to reboot.

Ultimately found out the Motherboard and PSU was causing the drive to get bad sectors, as the PSU was dying slowly, and the Mobo started to fail. Capacitors were buldging and the South bridge Chipset was failing. Ended up getting a new Motherboard and PSU and the bad sectors never came back.

What I'm using is an SSD, Samsung 850 EVO 500 gb alongside a 1 TB HDD (Seagate Barracuda).

The frequency varies a lot. Yesterday was the first time it froze after a week and a half or so. And there have been times it freezes twice a day. I downloaded HD Tune and everything looked healthy so I really don't know where to go from here.

    Just a suggestion,

Do you have anything on the 1 TB? Maybe you could install Windows on the 1 TB and see what happens. I've heard of SSDS causing freezing issues. Would be a good test to try

  10. If you can, download "WhoCrashed" from "resplendence.com" and run it immediately after a freeze, this should positively identify the driver responsible for the freeze. Also, type in "reliability history" in the search box,[next to start button] and check any red flags which show, use the "view tech details",which will identify issues and then you can install a new driver, from the manufacturers site ONLY.
Create a restore point before driver installation.
